BLACKPINK smashes YouTube records with “Kill This Love” video

YG EntertainmentMove over, BTS...another K-pop group is coming for you.  All-female group BLACKPINK has just shattered YouTube records with the debut of their new video “Kill This Love.”

First, the clip has taken the title of Biggest YouTube premiere of all time, with more than 979,000 simultaneous views upon first hitting the streaming platform. Then, it became the most-viewed music video debut in YouTube history, with just under 57 million views in its first 24 hours.

The previous record-holder for the most-viewed music video debut was Ariana Grande’s “thank u, next,” which scored 55 million views last year, followed by BTS’ “IDOL,” with just under 46 million views.

Finally, “Kill This Love” racked up 100 million views faster than any previous music video in YouTube history, reaching that milestone in less than three days.

Earlier this year, the video for the quartet’s “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du” became the most-viewed K-pop music video ever, according to Billboard.

“Kill This Love” is from an EP of the same name.  BLACKPINK is set for two Coachella performances this Friday and the 19th.  YouTube will stream the group’s performance on a massive video screen in New York’s Times Square at 11:50pm ET on Friday.

The North American leg of the group’s In Your Area tour gets underway April 17 in Los Angeles.
