“Proud” Lady Gaga reacts to having the #1 song and album in the country

Interscope RecordsIt’s been a good week-and-a-half for Lady Gaga: After picking up her first Oscar for co-writing “Shallow,” the song is now also #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and the A Star Is Born soundtrack is #1 on the album chart.

“I can’t believe the soundtrack and ‘Shallow’ are number one this week,” she tweeted. “I couldn’t be more proud of this film and the entire team behind it. Thank u so much.”

Billboard notes that this is the first time that a soundtrack and a single from that soundtrack were both #1 since 2015, when Charlie Puth‘s “See You Again,” and its parent album, the Furious 7 soundtrack, topped the chart.

By the way, it’s worth noting that while Gaga’s A Star Is Born co-star and director Bradley Cooper has been a part of movies that have had popular soundtracks — like the Guardians of the Galaxy films, for example — A Star Is Born marks the first time that he’s actually performed on a soundtrack. His efforts have now brought him a #1 hit and a Grammy, but ironically, Cooper has yet to win an Oscar, despite several nominations.
