Mariah Carey watches fans sing YouTube covers of her songs

ABC/Randy HolmesThanks to Glamour magazine, some aspiring singers on YouTube had one very special viewer checking out their work.

As part of Glamour’s video series “You Sang My Song,” Mariah Carey watched several YouTube videos of fans covering some of her most famous songs. The singers put their own spins on hits including “Hero,” “Touch My Body,” “Heartbreaker” and “We Belong Together.”

An impressed Mariah gave her reactions, and the fans were then surprised with the video of Mariah watching them.

“It’s a good feeling as a songwriter to see how many different ways people can interpret these songs,” Mariah said.

She also tweeted, “Thank you @glamourmag and all you amazing artists for sharing these beautiful renditions with me!”

The varied interpretations featured two friends doing a stripped down version of “Always Be My Baby,” a young boy belting out “Hero,” and a guy playing “Touch My Body” on the violin.
