No “Middle” ground: Zedd & Maren Morris hit #1

Nick Walker“The Middle” is now the top.

The song featuring Zedd, Maren Morris and Grey has risen to #1 on Billboard’s Pop Songs chart, which is based on radio airplay.  This is Zedd’s second #1 on that chart, following “Stay,” his 2017 collabo with Alessia Cara.  It’s the first for electronic duo Grey, and the first for Maren, who’s already scored a couple of #1s on the country version of this chart.

According to Billboard, that now makes Maren the sixth artist in history to top both the publication’s Country Airplay and Pop Songs charts, following the Backstreet Boys, Kelly Clarkson, Pink, Taylor Swift and Tim McGraw.

Billboard also notes that “The Middle” is the first #1 on the chart by three or more lead artists since 2003, when Nelly, along with P. Diddy and Murphy Lee, topped Pop Songs with “Shake Ya Tailfeather.”
