Add it up: Ed Sheeran's “Divide” marks 50 straight weeks in the top 20

Atlantic RecordsEd Sheeran’s album Divide has been out for nearly a year, but its popularity shows no sign of flagging.

Billboard reports that the album has just passed its 50th straight week in the top 20 of the Billboard Top 200 album chart; it’s currently number six.  Divide originally debuted at #1 in March of 2017 and hasn’t left the top 20 since.

The last album to accomplish that was 1989, by Ed’s pal Taylor Swift — that release spent its first 64 weeks on the chart in the top 20.  That means Ed will overtake Taylor if Divide can hang in there for 15 more weeks.

Divide has sold 3.11 million units and spun off three top 10 hits: “Shape of You,” “Perfect” and “Castle on the Hill.”  It also won Ed two Grammys: Best Pop Vocal Album, and Best Pop Vocal Performance for “Shape of You.”

Ed’s Divide stadium tour arrives in North America August 18, kicking off at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA.
