ABC/Image Group LAUnsurprisingly, Selena Gomez was super-popular on Instagram in 2017 — how could she not be, with more than 130 million followers? But it was Beyoncé who wins the prize for the most-liked post of the year on the social media platform.
As you may have guessed, Beyoncé’s post announcing that she was expecting twins was the year’s most-liked post, with more than 11 million “likes” since it went up February 1. Of the top 10 most-liked posts of the year, Beyonce also came in at #4 when she officially unveiled a photo of twins Sir and Rumi on their one-month birthday.
But Selena herself was no slouch. Of the top 10 most-liked posts of the year, she had five of them, including her most popular one: the photo of her and her friend Francia holding hands in the hospital after Selena’s kidney transplant. Her other top posts included two pictures of herself and her ex-boyfriend The Weeknd, a photo of herself in a sequined bikini astride a bicycle, and a picture of her on her 25th birthday.
Selena also continued her reign as the most-followed person on Instagram and was #2 on the list of the celebrities who attracted the most new followers this year, with more than 24 million.
Interestingly, People reports that The Weeknd has officially deleted all photos of himself and Selena from his Instagram account, and unfollowed her, to boot. The two split in October after 10 months; Selena is now apparently back together with her ex, Justin Bieber.
