Sam Smith's “The Thrill of It All” debuts at number one

Capitol RecordsSam Smith has his first number-one album in the U.S.

Sam’s latest, The Thrill of It All, debuts atop the Billboard 200 album chart this week, the magazine reports. The Thrill of It All earned the top chart spot with 237,000 in sales and equivalent stream, 185,000 of which were traditional album sales.  That was good for Sam’s best sales-week ever in the U.S.

Sam’s debut album, In the Lonely Hour, peaked at number two when it was released in July 2014.  The Thrill of It All already debuted at number one in Sam’s native U.K. where In the Lonely Hour also topped the album chart.

Maroon 5‘s latest, Red Pill Blues, debuts at number 2 with 122,000 in sales and streams.
