Camila Cabello is proud of her family’s Cuban heritage, and her single “Havana” is a tribute to that. So it’s no wonder her family was extra excited when her song “Havana” topped the British singles chart.
Speaking to the U.K.’s Official Charts Company, Camila said of the achievement, “Oh my god… I’m beyond over the moon. I’m so happy. I’m so excited!”
Regarding her family’s reaction, she added, “We all went crazy. You have to celebrate things like this because you never know if it’s going to happen again….my mom screamed. My dad doesn’t scream, but there were hugs…and maybe a small scream from him in a masculine, fatherly way.”
In the U.S., “Havana” has reached #2 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Camila received her Official Charts Company #1 award last night in London during the Music Industry Trusts award ceremony, where she also performed a new song, “Never Be the Same.” Her debut album is due some time in 2018.
