“My favorite pop males are the guys that sound like a combination of your boyfriend and your dad,” she told host Marc Maron. “And that’s Phil.” When Maron wasn’t convinced, Lorde sang part of Collins’ song “Take Me Home.”
Along with Collins, Lorde named Paul Simon — whose song she recently covered in concert — and Fleetwood Mac as some of her favorite artists. Also during the episode, she talked about synesthesia — the condition she has that causes her to “see” sounds as colors — and how that impacted the making of her new album, Melodrama.
Lorde will play the Life Is Beautiful festival in Las Vegas later this month, and she’ll kick off a headlining North American tour next March.
