According to The Hollywood Reporter, OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder and Fergie will both participate in a new competition called The Launch, headed up by record executive Scott Borchetta. The six-part talent search series will feature unsigned musicians working to create a big hit song.
Fergie and Ryan will help the coaches, including Borchetta, during the show, and according to The Hollywood Reporter, there will also be a third mentor, described as a “marquee Canadian singer.” At this point, that could describe anyone from Justin Bieber, Michael Buble or Drake to Alessia Cara, Shawn Mendes or The Weeknd. It could also be Shania Twain, for that matter, since she’s on the comeback trail.
The series will film this summer in Toronto.
Fergie is currently working on her long-awaited second solo album, Double Dutchess, while Ryan and OneRepublic are about to hit the road with U2 before doing their own headlining tour later this summer.
