Fifth Harmony ready for the “next level” with new single “Down”

Epic Records

Welcome to the new era of Fifth Harmony.  The quartet debuted their new single “Down” this past Friday with a performance on ABC’s Good Morning America’s summer concert series, and they were happy to see that their fans seem to be just as psyched about their new song as they are.

“It was epic,” Normani Kordei tells ABC Radio about Friday’s turnout of just under 2,000 fans to New York’s Central Park. “There was so many people, they were so loud…it’s really special — considering everybody’s been waiting for a minute now — that they’re super excited…more excited than we are!”

The release of “Down” follows Normani’s stint on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars; she came in third, losing the Mirrorball Trophy to football star Rashad Jennings.  But she says just the experience of being on the show made it all — excuse the pun — “Worth It.”

“I just found self-discovery, and found out things that I didn’t necessarily know were even there,” she tells ABC Radio about what she learned about herself during Dancing with the Stars. “So I really grew as a person, which was my reward in itself. I don’t need a trophy to prove it!”

“Down” is the group’s first single from their upcoming album, which will be their first since Camila Cabello left the group for a solo career.  The girls says they’re excited to start this new chapter of Fifth Harmony.

“It’s really amazing…our energy together,” Ally Brooke Hernandez tells ABC Radio. “The love is real. The glow-up is real.”

OK, but what does that mean?

Ally explains, “‘Glow-up’s a term for our fans that means the elevation is real…like, we’re next-level [in our music].”

No word yet on when Fifth Harmony’s third album will arrive.
