Ed Sheeran to receive prestigious Hal David Starlight Award from Songwriters Hall of Fame

Greg WilliamsEd Sheeran‘s amazing chart success over the past few years is bringing him a prestigious songwriting award.

At this year’s Songwriters Hall of Fame induction gala, Ed will receive the Hal David Starlight Award.  Since 2004, it’s been presented to a young songwriter who’s made “a significant impact in the music industry via their original songs.”  Past recipients include John Legend, Taylor Swift, Rob Thomas, Jason Mraz, John Mayer, Alicia Keys and more.

In a statement, Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff, legendary producers and co-chairmen of the Hall, said, “Ed Sheeran has accomplished so much in pop music that it is hard to believe he is only 26.”

Ed will receive his award June 15 in New York City during the Songwriters Hall of Fame annual gala, during which members of the band Chicago, rapper Jay Z, Babyface, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis and chart-topping songwriter Max Martin will all be inducted.
