The Chainsmokers are thrilled about their new collabo with Kelsea Ballerini: “Damn, this is exciting!”

Disruptor Records/Columbia

The Chainsmokers just released their latest collaboration, “This Feeling,” yesterday, but the feedback they’re getting from fans about the song — which features country star Kelsea Ballerini — is blowing them away.

“Damn, this is exciting!” they tweeted. “Feel like we haven’t seen a reaction to a song of ours like this since the Coldplay collab!”

Of course, the “Coldplay collab” was the duo’s massive hit “Something Just Like This,” and “This Feeling” could follow in its footsteps.  After all, country/pop collabs, like “The Middle” and “Meant to Be,” are all the rage these days.  And as Kelsea told Zane Lowe on his Beats 1 show yesterday, songs like these help break down barriers and change perceptions about country music.

She explained, “Having these kinda collaborations, people that have that stigma in their heads of like, ‘Well, it’s all about a truck’ — they’re like, ‘Oh, wait, I like this song! That’s a country singer? Wait, let me go check out more!’ It kinda opens the doors more, which is really sick!”

Kelsea, who’s covered the duo’s hits “Closer” and “Paris” in the past, told Lowe that working with The Chainsmokers is her “dream collab,” adding, “I love that they write their stuff. They’re songwriters, which I relate to so much and respect a whole lot.”

And The Chainsmokers love Kelsea just as much as she loves them.

As the duo’s Alex Pall told Zane, “I feel like, you look at her and you smile…like, she’s such a happy person!”

He added, “When we sent her this song…she wrote us back right away and was like, ‘I f****ing love it. I’m in.’ Everything’s been super fun.”
