ABC/Heidi GutmanGoing in different directions has been pretty successful for the guys of One Direction.
Liam Payne has become the third group member to hit number one on Billboard’s Pop Songs radio airplay chart with a solo song. “Strip That Down,” featuring Quavo, takes over the top spot from Niall Horan’s “Slow Hands.”
Liam and Niall follow former member Zayn, who topped the chart for two weeks in May 2016 with “Pillowtalk.”
One Direction is now the first group to spin off three solo artists each with number-ones on the Pop Songs chart. And with Liam succeeding Niall on the chart, it’s also the first time two members of the same group have had back-to-back number-ones on the chart.
In case you’re wondering, Harry Styles peaked at number 12 on the Pop Songs chart with “Sign of the Time” and Louis Tomlinson reached number 25 with “Back to You,” featuring Bebe Rexha.
