David M. Benett/Dave Benett/WireImageEd Sheeran co-wrote “Love Yourself” with Justin Bieber, and the song became a massive hit. Justin now says that Ed owes him another hit, to make up for that time he whacked him in the face with a golf club.
Speaking to the U.K.’s Sun Online, Justin said of his pal Ed, “Of course I want him to write for me again in the future. I get that every artist out there wants him to write for them, but we are buddies and he still owes me from hitting me with a golf club!”
The incident in question happened one night in a bar in Japan, when a drunken Ed tried to hit a golf ball out of Justin’s mouth, missed, and bashed him in the face.
Even though it’s clear that Ed’s got to make it up to Justin for belting him in the chops, Justin says he understands that Ed’s pretty much the most in-demand guy in pop music right now.
“Artists are fighting over Ed — he is a genius when it comes to song writing,” says the Biebs. “If Ed writes you a song, you pretty much know you have a guaranteed hit.”
“I think probably a lot of people aren’t even aware of some of the songs he has written for the biggest performers in the world over the last few years,” Justin adds. “He wrote ‘Love Yourself’ for me and bang! It was the biggest song of 2016.”
Among the other artists Ed has written songs for or co-written songs with: Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, One Direction, Tori Kelly and James Blunt.
