ABC/Fred LeeSia’s longtime producing/songwriting partner Greg Kurstin says the singer’s upcoming Christmas album will tackle the holiday genre in a whole new way.
“What really blows my mind is just that she wrote these new Christmas stories, in a way,” Kurstin tells Entertainment Weekly, “and it’s kind of amazing that she did that.”
He says the album, which they recorded in just a couple of weeks back in May, will explore many different styles.
“[It] took me back to when we used to get into jazz chord changes,” he says, adding, “There’s some really fun uptempo Christmas jams, and then there’s also some Sia ballads.”
The Christmas album, due out later this year, will mark Sia’s first release since joining Atlantic Records.
