Adele, Coldplay and Justin Timberlake were the UK’s most-played artists of 2016

Alasdair McLellanAdele and Coldplay were among the most-played artists in the U.K. last year, according to the British music licensing company Phonographic Performance Ltd.

Coldplay came in at number one, with Adele taking the number two spot. Other notable acts that made the top 10 include Justin Timberlake, Justin Bieber, Ellie Goulding, Calvin Harris and Taylor Swift.

Timberlake’s “Can’t Stop the Feeling!” was PPL’s most-played track of last year. That song was followed by “Lush Life” by Zara Larsson, “Cake by the Ocean” by DNCE, “This Is What You Came For” by Calvin Harris featuring Rihanna and “7 Years” by Lukas Graham.

The tallies were determined based on TV and radio airplay, as well as music usage in businesses such as pubs, restaurants, shops, offices and gyms.
