ABC/Fred WatkinsYou might have noticed while watching Ariana Grande‘s One Love Manchester benefit concert Sunday that Usher, who was previously confirmed to perform, was a no-show.
But he had a good reason.
“So happy to see that last night’s concert in Manchester proved that love always prevails. I would have loved to be there but It was my son’s first fay at Camp Kudzu, one of the few summer camps for kids living with diabetes,” Usher wrote on his Instagram.
The “No Limit” artist added, “This was an important day for him and for myself as a proud father. Stay strong UK.”
Usher’s heartfelt message earned over 37,000 likes as of noon Monday.
One Love Manchester took place at Manchester’s Emirates Old Trafford venue to raise money for victims of the May 22 attack at Manchester Arena following Ariana’s concert there.
In addition to Ariana, performers included Pharrell Williams, Mumford and Sons frontman Marcus Mumford, Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, Coldplay, Miley Cyrus, Black Eyed Peas, Take That, and One Direction‘s Niall Horan, Little Mix, Imogen Heap, and Oasis singer Liam Gallagher.
