Dave Hogan/Mission Pictures/Getty ImagesBack in 2000, ABC aired a reality competition show called Making the Band, which put together the fairly successful boy band O-Town. Now, 17 years later, ABC’s getting back into the boy band business.
This summer, the network will debut a new competition series called, simply, Boy Band, which will feature singers battling to become one of five guys in a new group. Viewers at home will be able to vote for their favorites live.
The show will unfold over 10 episodes, and the winner will score a contract with Hollywood Records, which like ABC, is owned by Disney.
So far, there’s no air date for the show, which is being produced by the folks who bring you Lip Sync Battle.
