ABC/Lou RoccoFamily is family, no matter what. Bebe Rexha is defending her dad even though he has some pretty negative opinion about on her latest music video.
Fans started coming for Bebe’s father, Flamur Rexha, after she posted a screenshot of a text message from him Monday in which he criticized her racy new video for “Last Hurrah.”
“You better stop posting stupid pornography because you make me sick,” he wrote in the since-deleted screenshot. “I can’t take this anymore.”
He goes on to say that he’s “embarrassed to go in public,” adding, “I’m very upset with you I can’t believe it.”
When she posted it, Bebe wrote, “My dad hates me,” with a facepalm emoji.
But now Bebe is saying she regrets ever posting the screenshot and wants fans to stop being mean to her dad.
TMZ caught up with Bebe at LAX on Tuesday, where she told them she was on her way to visit her dad in New York to try to make amends. She said he hasn’t spoken to her in two weeks.
“He didn’t like the video, the video is a lot,” she said. “My fans are getting a little too intense, they’re saying some mean s*** about my dad.”
“He might have said something a little heated in the moment, I feel dumb for showing the screenshot,” she added. “[But] I get him, I understand him. Don’t talk s*** about my dad, that’s my father and he loves me.”
Last week, YouTube flagged the “Last Hurrah” for containing “sensitive” content.
“I am woman who is living unapologetically. I’m not gonna be made to feel bad about making ART,” Bebe tweeted, adding, “IF A MALE RAPPER PUT OUT THAT VIDEO IT WOULD BE FINE.”
