Lauren Daigle adds more tour dates, recalls how “You Say” became a hit on the road

Lauren Daigle is in the middle of a tour in support of her Grammy-winning hit “You Say” and Grammy-winning album, Look Up Child, but she’s just extended the trek with 19 new dates in the U.S. and Europe.  It’s no wonder that Lauren likes being on the road — that’s where she realized that “You Say” would be a big hit.

Before she released it or even posted it anywhere, Lauren played “You Say” in concert.  She tells ABC Radio that fan response convinced her that it was special.

“By the time the second chorus came, everybody knew it,” she recalls. “It was weird, because it wasn’t on YouTube or anything else. I was just introducing it to them live, in the moment.  And by the time the second chorus hit, they would all sing along.”

She laughs, “So, it was very enriching, I’d say, but in addition to that, it made me want to put it on the record.”

In addition becoming her first top 40 pop hit and winning a Grammy, “You Say” is also helping Lauren’s fans through some tough times.

“Someone just the other day said that they were going to commit suicide and that record just kinda changed their life,” she tells ABC Radio. “And you hear moms talking about how difficult it is with the passing of a child, or something like that, and that song has given them stability in those hard times.”

“So yeah, the stories pour in — that’s the most important thing to me,” Lauren says.

Lauren’s current tour leg, which she describes as having had “an amazing vibe,” wraps up March 18. Tickets for the new tour dates go on sale March 1 at 10 a.m. local time via LaurenDaigle.com/tour.
