Fletcher releases “super personal” video for brutally honest breakup track, “Undrunk”

Capitol RecordsIf you’re experiencing Valentine’s Day blues this year, rising pop star Fletcher just might be the antidote.

Today she’s released the video for her brutally honest breakup song, “Undrunk,” where she sings about wishing she could turn back time and erase her heartbreak. The clip, while not a literal interpretation of the song, is personal just the same.

“I wanted it to just feel like super personal and really me and we shot some of it in Asbury Park, where I’m from in New Jersey,” she tells ABC Radio. “And it’s sort of this contrast between me being alone and sort of this like grey, grungy Jersey vibe contrasted with shots in the desert with warm blues and yellows, reminiscing on being with a lover.”

Fletcher says she also wanted to “blur the lines of gender and sexuality and religion” with the visuals.

“The inspiration behind the video is just me hoping what I want the world to look like and what I want love to look like,” she says.

As for her feelings on today’s romantic holiday, she thinks it’s “so overrated.”

“It sucks,” she says, adding with a laugh, “I’m not feeling Valentine’s Day today so I am gonna be blasting my own song.”

“Undrunk” debuted as the number one most-added song at Top 40 radio and has amassed more than 3 million streams worldwide. Fletcher’s new EP is due out later this year.
