Wes and AlexAs they have for years, Maroon 5 will celebrate New Year’s Eve tonight by performing at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, followed by a huge bash back at the hotel. We’d like to know exactly what goes at this annual party, but Maroon 5 guitarist James Valentine won’t spill.
“Oh, man, we can’t talk about that…!” James laughs. “But it’s been every year, I think for seven or eight years now. And Las Vegas is close enough to Los Angeles so we get a bunch of our friends to come out and we just make it a big party, and it’s a become a great tradition for us. We love it.”
But James admits that things in Maroon 5 land are a little different than they were eight years ago. Nearly every member of the band now has kids — and the newest addition, Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo‘s daughter Gio, isn’t even a year old.
So, are all the Maroon 5 kids going to come to the party, too? James, who’s single, tells ABC Radio, “I don’t know. The kids, they’re around now. It’s really funny — backstage, we have a whole section of rooms that’s ‘wives and family.'”
He laughs, “I think Behati posted a picture of it on her Instagram — it said, ‘Oh, how times have changed!'”
After they ring in 2019, Maroon 5 will reportedly play the Super Bowl in February, and then head overseas to play concerts in Australia and Asia. Those dates wrap up in March, presumably to free Adam up for the live portion of the next installment of The Voice.
