Travis SchneiderThe success of Maroon 5′s hit “Girls Like You” might just allow the group to tie themselves on the chart.
The song has just notched its seventh week on top of the Billboard Hot 100. That’s now the longest #1 streak by a group since Maroon 5 themselves spent nine weeks on top in 2012 with “One More Night.”
Adam Levine and the guys were previously tied with MAGIC!, who spent six weeks at #1 with “Rude” in 2014. That means “Girls Like You” needs to hang on for two more weeks for Maroon 5 to tie their own record.
Meanwhile, “Girls Like You” rises to #1 on Billboard‘s Adult Contemporary chart. The last time Maroon 5 was on top there was in 2017, with the song “Don’t Wanna Know.”
Finally, “Girls Like You” spends a 15th week at #1 on Billboard‘s Radio Songs chart. Only three other songs have lasted longer: No Doubt’s “Don’t Speak” and Mariah Carey’s “We Belong Together,” both 16 weeks, and “Iris” by the Goo Goo Dolls, which ruled for 18 weeks.
