Mac Miller's cause of death revealed

G L AskewWe now know what killed Mac Miller.

According to the L.A. County Coroner’s Office, the rapper, who was found dead in his home September 7, died from mixed drug toxicity; specifically, a mix of fentanyl, cocaine and ethanol.  Miller was 26.

While the initial autopsy was performed on September 8, the official cause of death declaration was deferred until the results of toxicology tests came back.

The report further reveals that Mac’s assistant found him on his bed, kneeling forward.  An empty bottle of alcohol was found on the nightstand; a bottle of prescription pills was in the bathroom.  A rolled-up $20 bill with “white powdery residue” was in Miller’s pocket.

The news of Mac’s cause of death comes just two days after his former girlfriend, Ariana Grande, released a new song called “thank u, next,” in which she mentions the rapper by his birth name, Malcolm McCormick.

“Wish I could say thank you to Malcolm/’Cause he was an angel,” Ariana sings.

Earlier this year, following his split from Grande, Mac was arrested for DUI and hit-and-run.

Last week, a number of musicians performed a tribute concert for Miller in Los Angeles. Participating acts included Chance the Rapper, John Mayer, and SZA.
