Demi Lovato's “Sober” back on the chart

Island/Hollywood/SafehouseIt’s sad but true: Bad news about a musician usually leads to a jump in sales and streams of their music.

Billboard reports that, following news of her overdose and hospitalization, Demi Lovato‘s “Sober” has re-entered the Hot 100 chart at #56.  It had previously reached #58 on July 7, not long after it was released.

The song has seen a 199% increase in streams, and a more than 1,000% increase in downloads since the July 24 incident, which saw Demi rushed to the hospital after overdosing at her Hollywood Hills home.

“Sober,” which Demi described as “my truth,” was how she chose to announce that, after six years of sobriety, she’d fallen off the wagon.

Meanwhile, Demi’s other current single, “Solo” — a collaboration with Clean Bandit — has risen to #61 on the Hot 100.
