Two of G-Eazy‘s duet partners, Bebe Rexha and Cardi B, are now chart-topping, record-setting stars — and he says he’s not surprised by either woman’s amazing success.
“I’m so proud and happy for her…I love Bebe. She changed my life forever,” G-Eazy says of his “Me, Myself & I” partner. “She’s a great person with a great heart, and super-talented.”
He also doesn’t find it weird that Bebe’s ruling the country charts with her Florida Georgia Line collabo, “Meant to Be.”
“I think we live in a world where genre is not what it used to be,” G tells ABC Radio. “We’re all influenced by everything. Music is genre-bending and if it’s good, it’s good. If it connects with somebody out there, that’s what matters.”
As for Cardi, before she was a household name, G-Eazy featured her on his single “No Limit.” He says he always knew she’d blow up.
“I told her, ‘Cardi, you’re gonna be the biggest thing in the world,'” he recalls. “I didn’t call it or predict it, other than just seeing her for what she was. She’s special.”
“She’s a super-human….she’s larger than life — but she’s also human, with no filters,” G-Eazy says. “She’s just raw. And I think…what makes artists really successful is when you can relate to them, but also aspire to [be] them.”
Cardi and Bebe won’t be joining G on his Endless Summer tour later this month, but he says performing their collabos live isn’t a problem.
“The audience becomes the lead vocalist,” he tells ABC Radio. “They’re so loud and they sing those [songs] word-for-word — they kinda fill in for whoever’s on the song, y’know what I mean? It’s like, ‘Don’t trip — we got this!'”
