Ed Sheeran is most-Shazamed artist of 2018 so far

ABC/Paula LoboAfter being named the most-Shazamed artist of 2017, Ed Sheeran continues to hold that title for the first half of 2018.

According to the song recognition app, Ed is not only the most-Shazamed artist of this year so far, but his hit “Perfect” is the most-Shazamed pop song of the year up to this point.

“Even though Ed’s album ÷ [Divide] is now more than a year old, the songs from it continue to be Shazamed in large numbers,” Shazam’s Global Head of Content Julian Marshall says in a statement.

“With some big releases incoming from Drake, Nicki Minaj and Ariana Grande, and tracks like “X” [by Nicky Jam and J Balvin] still in our Worldwide Top 10, it’ll be interesting to see if he’s still top of the charts at the end of the year.”

Rounding out the top five Shazamed artists in 2018 are J Balvin, Drake, Dua Lipa and Kendrick Lamar. Other songs on the most-Shazamed list include Camila Cabello’s “Never Be the Same,” Portugal, The Man’s “Feel It Still” and Imagine Dragons’ “Whatever It Takes.”
