Tristar Media/Getty ImagesThursday morning, ABC’s Good Morning America hosted a couple who got married live on the air in a special “DIY Wedding,” and MAX was on hand to serenade them with his romantic ballad “Lights Down Low.” Afterward, he told ABC Radio about his experience with the newlyweds, Airman Keith Peck and Katlin Allsbrook of Dayton, OH.
“They were really cute! They were like, ‘Aww, that was awesome! Yeah, you’re a part of our life forever!'” MAX laughs. “And it’s so cute, especially ’cause I didn’t know them! I don’t even know if they knew [who I was] before [I sang]…like, ‘Oh, who’s this guy singing?'”
“But it was really beautiful,” Max continues. “And it was beautiful,of course, that he served our country. And the more of that kind of stuff I see — when it’s people who serve our country and whatever else — that are such incredible souls and spirits, it’s even more of an honor to know we’re a part of their life with the song.”
“Lights Down Low” is also a part of lots of other people’s lives. MAX originally wrote “Lights Down Low” for his now-wife, Emily, and even used it to propose to her, but ever since the song came out, it’s been adopted by couples worldwide as their wedding song. In fact, quite a number of fans have gotten engaged at MAX’s concerts as he sings the song — but the GMA nuptials marked the first time he actually sang it at a wedding.
The New York City native is currently working on his sophomore album but there’s no release date yet.
