Jason Derulo debuts FIFA World Cup anthem “Colors”

ABC/Heidi GutmanJason Derulo is flying the flag for the 2018 World Cup.

He’s just released “Colors,” the Coca-Cola® song for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, the soccer tournament that’s held every four years.  This year, it’ll take place in Russia from June 14 to June 15.

The title “Colors” refers to the fact that the players wear their country’s “colors” while competing in the tournament.  On Twitter, Jason writes, “Represent your country – Represent your flag. Be proud of where you’re from & who you are.”

In a statement, Jason says, “It was a pleasure working with Coca-Cola to create the anthem for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. It’s a tournament that celebrates athletic excellence and I’m honored to provide the soundtrack.”

He adds, “Through my years of travel, I’ve been able to see the beauty in our cultural differences and I wrote ‘Colors’ to celebrate that diversity and be a part of the amazing energy that sports fans around the world give to their teams.”

The anthemic, upbeat song has Jason singing, “Look at how far we’ve come/There’s beauty in our unity we’ve found/I’m ready, I’m ready/We still got a lil’ way/But look at how far we’ve come/Hands up for your colors.”
