Meghan Trainor a keynote guest at prestigious event she first attended as an unknown

Brian Bowen Smith/PRNewsfoto/ASCAPIt’s a full-circle moment for Meghan Trainor: She’s going to be one of the main attractions at a major music industry conference that she first attended as a complete unknown.

Meghan will participate in a keynote conversation at the 2018 I Create Music EXPO, organized each year by the performance rights organization ASCAP.  The future Grammy-winner first attended the event when she was 16 years old, and had just self-released her first recordings.  In fact, she points to a meeting with one of that year’s panelists, Natasha Bedingfield, as a hugely influential experience in her development as an artist.

Since then, Meghan — now 24 — has won four ASCAP Pop Music Awards and last year, the organization gave her its Vanguard Award.

The news of Meghan’s keynote appearance comes as her new single, “No Excuses,” from her forthcoming third album, tops the iTunes chart.  “I really don’t believe it! I’m so grateful to have so many amazing people supporting this song!” she tweeted.

Other participants at this year’s I Create Music EXPO, scheduled for May 7-9 in L.A., include Jason Mraz, “Walking in Memphis” singer Marc Cohn, and legendary songwriters Desmond Child and Paul Williams.
