Frazer Harrison/Getty Images via ABCIt’s been more than a second since 5 Seconds of Summer released new music — 2016, to be exact — but fans won’t have to wait too much longer.
Via Instagram, the group teased a new single called “Want You Back,” which will arrive this Friday. And late last week, the Aussie band tweeted the hashtag “#5SOS3ISCOMING?”
As Billboard notes, 5SOS are the only band ever to have their first two full-length studio albums — their self-titled 2014 debut and 2015’s Sounds Good Feels Good — enter the Billboard album chart at #1.
In December, 5SOS guitarist Michael Clifford told Billboard that the first single from their third album would be out in the “really early” stages of 2018.
Attempting to describe their new music, Michael said, “It’s kind of taking a mix of ’90s… It’s so hard to explain… There’s a bunch of garage… The ways we do the gang vocals is kind of like Beastie Boys-ish. Then we have somber pianos on songs… It all makes sense.”
