Trae Patton/NBCKelly Clarkson hasn’t even made her official debut as a coach on The Voice, but she’s already thinking about coming back for an additional season. That is, if she can fit it around her tour plans.
Speaking to TV Insider, Kelly says, “My current album, Meaning of Life, is my favorite album I’ve ever done, so I want to tour it worldwide. But I love the show. It’s different for me, because it’s like I’m paying it forward a bit.”
“I’m old enough to know I want to work with people I love to work with,” she adds. “I love everyone who works on The Voice. I definitely could see returning.”
Kelly’s also convinced she’s going to win season 14. “My team is all over the place in age, race, style…[it’s] an eclectic version of Adam’s, Alicia’s and Blake’s teams,” she says.
The Voice returns for season 14 on February 26 on NBC, but over on ABC, the show that made Kelly a star, American Idol, will return in its rebooted form on March 11. Kelly says there’s plenty of room for both shows.
“I’m a fan of this kind of talent being seen on TV. I’m not a person who has to beat something down to make sure my thing looks good,” she says, explaining why she won’t bad-mouth Idol.
“TV is powerful. The fact that you can be in someone’s living room to showcase and accomplish your dream — I think that’s rad in any capacity.”
In fact, Kelly admits that during the blind auditions, she constantly refers to her victory on American Idol in order to convince Voice contestants to join her team.
“I’m dropping [mentions of] it left and right!” she laughs. “The others have already won The Voice as a coach. I know I haven’t won this show, but I’ve won a show.”
