The most-Shazamed song of 2017 is exactly what you'd expect it to be

Atlantic RecordsNo surprises here: the most-Shazamed song of 2017 is the inescapable ditty that was #1 for 12 weeks: Ed Sheeran‘s “Shape of You.” Ed was also the year’s most-Shazamed artist.

The song recognition app has unveiled its annual list of the 15 most Shazamed tracks of the past year, and “Shape of You” is on top, followed by the song that was actually #1 for the most number of weeks in 2017: “Despacito” by Luis Fonsi.

“Rockabye,” by Clean Bandit featuring Anne-Marie and Sean Paul is #3 on the list, and Charlie Puth‘s “Attention” is #4. Since Clean Bandit uses a different vocalist for all their songs, it’s easy to see why people couldn’t identify the artist, while “Attention” was a different sound for Charlie.

That’s probably also why songs like “It Ain’t Me” by Kygo and Selena Gomez and “Sign of the Times” by Harry Styles showed up on the list: neither Harry nor Selena sounded like they had in the past on those records. And did you know that was Katy Perry singing when you first heard “Feels,” her collabo with Calvin Harris, Pharrell Williams and Big Sean? That song is #12 on the list.

Meanwhile, other songs on the list are by artists who a lot of people just discovered this year, such as “Feel It Still” by Portugal. The Man, “Way Down We Go” by Kaleo and “Mi Gente” by J Balvin and Willy William.
