Courtesy ABCWe’ll have to wait until tonight’s Scandal to hear Taylor Swift‘s new song in its entirety, but we got a tiny taste this morning on ABC’s Good Morning America.
The fifteen-second promo, which shows Taylor performing at a piano, reveals ten seconds of the song — all melody, no lyrics. But we do know which song it is now — “New Year’s Day,” the final track from Reputation. “New Year’s Day” is the fifth song Taylor’s released from Reputation so far — and it’ll be the last, considering the album officially comes out in under 24 hours.
Taylor’s performance during tonight’s Scandal — during a break in the show, not as part of the show itself — is not only her first TV appearance in support of the album, it’s also being billed as her first performance of a new song in three years. It was recorded in the living room of her home in Rhode Island in front of more than 100 invited fans.
A four-minute extended version of Taylor’s performance of “New Year’s Day” will also air Friday at 9 p.m. EST on Freeform during The Duff, airing at 8:30 p.m. ET.
Scandal airs tonight at 9:00 ET on ABC. Reputation will be officially released at midnight.
