Taylor Swift to be honored with Global Icon award, makes appearance on AP History exam

Taylor Swift has made history yet again.

She’s set to receive the Global Icon Award at the 2021 Brit Awards, making her the first female artist and the first non-English artist to receive the accolade.

The Global Icon Award is “the highest accolade given and is reserved for truly exceptional artists” and Taylor will be the fourth recipient after Elton John (2014), David Bowie (2016) and Robbie Williams (2017).

The “cardigan” singer is also up for the International Female Solo Artist award at the ceremony, which will be held on Tuesday, May 11.

Speaking of making history, TMZ reports that the Grammy-winning superstar popped up on the College Board’s AP U.S. Government and Politics test that was given to to AP Government students last week.

According to the outlet, the test-takers were asked to “analyze how voter registration laws affect civic participation…like voter turnout.”  In recent years,Taylor has encouraged people to get out and vote, and endorsed specific candidates.  The Board apparently feels this played a part in getting people who otherwise would not have voted to go to the polls.

In any case, it seems the question was a one-off — a College Board source tells TMZ that it won’t appear in any tests in the near future.
