AJ Mitchell: “All My Friends” went to prom — but I went to two of 'em

Drew Levin

You Tuber-turned-pop star AJ Mitchell is on the rise, thanks to his first radio hit, “All My Friends.”  The 18-year-old singer left school a few years ago to pursue music full time but continued his education online, and graduated from high school this year.  But unlike other young stars who complete their studies on the road, AJ says he didn’t have to sacrifice attending his prom.

“I actually did go to prom. I went to two proms!” the Belleville, IL native laughs. “I went home and I did prom there. It was super fun, actually: I got to see all my friends that I haven’t seen in like two or three years…it was actually kind of weird seeing them ’cause they’re all like grown up, and I had no idea like who they were! I was like, “Wait, is that Ryan?”

And that’s not all — AJ also squeezed another prom into his busy schedule.

“I also went to prom in Denver,” he tells ABC Radio. “It was my manager’s little sister’s prom and she asked me to go, and I was like, ‘Yeah, for sure.’ So I got to crash two proms this year! Which is a goal. Which is success!”

Speaking of success, AJ just released another single and video, “Talk Too Much.”  He’s also got more new music on the way, according to his record label.
