Backstreet Boys celebrate 20th anniversary of “I Want It That Way” with special version of music video

ABC/Paula LoboIn honor of the 20th anniversary of their iconic hit “I Want It That Way,” Backstreet Boys have released a new “Millennium 20 Edition” of the song’s music video.

“20 years of ‘I Want It That Way’ have really flown by!” BSB tweeted. “Thank you all for your support since the release in 1999. It really means the world to us and we released a little special edition of the video for its anniversary.”

The special version of the video — which was shot at Los Angeles International Airport — includes behind-the-scenes factoids and quotes from the band, inserted pop-up video style.

“I Want It That Way” was released on April 12, 1999 as the lead single from the group’s third album Millennium, which also featured the hits “Larger Than Life” and “Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely.” The song sold an estimated 30 million copies worldwide.

As for the “It” they’re singing about, that’ll likely forever be up for debate.
