Neflix drops trailer for Beyonce's documentary “Homecoming”

Kevin Mazur/Getty Images for CoachellaAfter teasing it over the weekend, Netflix has now dropped a trailer for Homecoming, a documentary about Beyonce‘s historic 2018 performance at Coachella.

Homecoming presents an intimate look at [the] performance that paid homage to America’s historically black colleges and universities,” Netflix says in a statement. “Interspersed with candid footage and interviews detailing the preparation and powerful intent behind her vision, Homecoming traces the emotional road from creative concept to cultural movement.”

The trailer features scenes of Beyonce onstage, intercut with footage of her in rehearsals with dancers and musicians, getting ready for the production. The entire thing is soundtracked by an interview clip of Maya Angelou, who speaks about her goals.

“What I really want to do is be a representative of my race: the human race. I have a chance to show how kind we can be, how intelligent and generous we can be,” she says. “I have a chance to teach and to love and to laugh.”

We hear an interviewer ask, “What advice would you have to give this generation?”

“Tell the truth,” she says. “To yourself, first. And to the children.”

Homecoming hits Netflix April 17.
