ABC/Paula LoboCamila Cabello is putting her money towards a good cause.
The singer has reportedly donated $10,000 to a GoFundMe page to help an eight-year-old homeless Nigerian refugee and his family.
The boy, Tanitoluwa “Tani” Adewumi, gained attention last week after he was profiled in The New York Times for being crowned the New York state chess champion in his age range. He learned the game just one year ago at PS 116 in New York.
Tani and his family fled terrorist violence in northern Nigeria in 2017 and currently live in a Manhattan homeless shelter.
Thanks in part to Camila’s generous donation, the GoFundMe page has far surpassed its $50,000 goal in just three days. The total is now approaching $175,000.
