Republic RecordsRight now, the A Star Is Born soundtrack is #1 on the album chart, but Ariana Grande may return to grab the top spot, according to Billboard.
Ariana’s Thank U, Next is likely to sell 90 to 95,000 units by the time the sales week is over, which may be enough to send it back to #1. If it does return, it’ll be its third week on top.
However, Billboard notes that Hozier may spoil Ariana’s fun with his new album Wasteland, Baby!, which could sell as many as 85 to 90,000 units. Sales of the Irish singer’s sophomore album are being boosted by a concert ticket/album bundling deal, and by a newly released deluxe edition of the album.
The chart will also likely see strong debuts from new albums by R&B star Solange and rapper 2 Chainz. As previously reported, Ariana guest-stars on 2 Chainz’ album, singing the hook on a song called “Rule the World.”
