“A Star Is Born” soundtrack could enjoy rebirth on chart after Oscars; Ariana likely to stay at #1

Interscope RecordsAriana Grande‘s album Thank u, next has been #1 on the Billboard album chart for the past two weeks, but industry forecasters predict it could very well hold onto the top spot for a third week…if A Star Is Born doesn’t overtake it.

Billboard reports that Thank u, next could sell another 110,000 to 115,000 units to keep its spot on top. If it does, it’ll be the first album to spend three weeks at number one since October, when the soundtrack for A Star Is Born did it.

Coincidentally, Billboard reports that thanks to “Shallow’s” Oscar win and Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s steamy duet, the soundtrack is likely to rebound to number two on the chart, on a 100% sales increase.  There’s also a small chance that it could replace Ariana’s disc at number one, if sales remain steady through the week.

The final sales results will be revealed by Billboard this Sunday, March 2.
