ABC/Craig SjodinOrlando Bloom set the bar really high as far as marriage proposals go. Like “thousands of feet in the air” high.On Jimmy Kimmel Live Monday night, Katy Perry confirmed their engagement, describing how it happened during a helicopter ride on Valentine’s Day.
As they were flying in the air, Orlando was ready with champagne and a note he wanted Katy to read to distract her as he pulling out the box with the ring. But she says things got a little comical when he tried to pull the box out of his too-small pocket and his elbow knocked over the champagne bottle.
In the end, though, Katy said he “did so well.” The helicopter landed on a rooftop and her whole family and all her friends were there waiting.
On Valentine’s Day, Katy posted a photo of the flower-shaped engagement ring, but this is the first time she’s officially confirmed it.
Katy kicks off the new season of American Idol March 3 on ABC.
