Rob Thomas debuts new single & video, summer tour to kick off in May

Randall SlavinRob Thomas is back with a new song, a new video and a new tour.

The Matchbox Twenty frontman has released his new song “One Less Day (Dying Young),” along with a video.  The rousing tune, which has a bit of a Celtic feel to it, is about looking at aging, not as a negative, thing, but as a gift.

“I’ve seen my friends fall away before their time/and I’ve been afraid that I may follow in their light/so I drink and love and whisper all the things I know are right/Someday I may leave this world, but maybe not tonight,” Rob sings. “I’m not afraid of getting older/I’m one less day from dying young.”

The video features Rob singing in a room filled with lighted votive candles, as a fire dancer does her thing.  At the end, the candles suddenly go out.

“This is an anthem about life and living,” Rob says in a statement. “Living one more day is a privilege not afforded to everyone, so do all you can with the ones you get.”

“One Less Day” is from Rob’s new solo album Chip Tooth Smile, due out April 26.  It’s now available for pre-order.

Rob will kick off a summer tour in support of the album May 28 in Red Bank, NJ; right now, the tour is scheduled to wrap up August 4 in Uncasville, CT. Abby Anderson will be his special guest.

If you pre-order the album, you’ll get first access to tickets starting February 25 at 10 a.m. local time.  Fan club pre-sales will also start on that day; the public on-sale date is March 1 at 10 a.m. local time.  Visit RobThomasMusic.com for more info.
