Grace PickeringRising pop star Fletcher’s latest single, “Undrunk,” is currently catching fire on the radio and no one is more overjoyed than the singer herself.
She tells ABC Radio about the emotional experience of hearing her song on the radio for the first time ever.
“I mean I just, I lost it,” she says. “I cried the second I heard it, the second I heard my name introduced.”
She continues, “Like, I could cry thinking about it now because I literally grew up driving from — I’m from Jersey originally – driving from Jersey to New York in the car with my parents and listening to the radio and picturing myself being on the radio and picturing myself being like in the music video of whatever song was on the radio.”
Now, that dream is coming full circle.
“The fact that like maybe there’s some younger person out there right now that’s doing the same thing to my song is just the most wild experience that I’ve had so far,” she says. “And I just really wanna be the artist that I needed as a little girl and if I can be that to someone else than that is just like, then I’ve won.”
Expect to hear more from Fletcher this year. She’s planning to release an EP and eventually head out on tour.
