Republic RecordsAriana Grande has become the only other female artist besides Madonna to simultaneously hold the number one and two spots on the U.K.’s Official Singles Chart.
According to Official Charts, Ariana nabbed the number one spot this week with “break up with your girlfriend, i’m bored,” knocking her other single, “7 Rings,” to number two. Madonna was the last female artist to achieve the feat back in 1985 with “Into The Groove” and “Holiday.”
“honored n grateful. thank u UK babes. i love u n cant wait to see u,” Ariana tweeted after seeing the news.
Ariana’s album, thank u, next, also debuted at number one on the U.K. Albums Chart, setting a record for most album streams ever by a female artist in a week with 59 million streams across its 12 tracks. She broke her own record set by Sweetener last August.
