Maroon 5's “Girls Like You” now tied for title of “longest-running top 10 hit in history”

ABC/Randy HolmesMaroon 5‘s Super Bowl halftime performance may not have gone over too well — but that doesn’t mean people aren’t listening to, downloading or streaming their music. In fact, they’ve just a major chart milestone.

The band’s Grammy-nominated single “Girls Like You,” featuring Cardi B, has just passed its 33rd week in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100. That means it’s now tied with Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You” as the longest-running top 10 hit of all time.

“Shape of You” spent 33 weeks in the top 10, and now so has “Girls Like You.” The song was able to retain its high-charting status because it’s still selling and streaming so well. In fact, in the last week, sales of “Girls Like You” have increased 123%, while its streaming numbers increased by 13%.

There are two songs that previously spent 32 weeks in the top 10: “Closer” by The Chainsmokers featuring Halsey, and “How Do I Live” by LeAnn Rimes.

And there’s more good news for Maroon 5. While “Girls Like You” lost to Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper‘s “Shallow” Sunday night at the Grammys, a member of the band still went home a winner.

Maroon 5 keyboard player PJ Morton won the Grammy for Best Traditional R&B Performance for his self-released live version of the Bee Gees classic “How Deep Is Your Love.” The band’s official Twitter account congratulated PJ on his win.
