Mike Marsland/WireImageJust two days after the Motion Picture Academy confirmed that Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper will perform their Oscar-nominated song “Shallow” at the Academy Awards February 24, comes word that Gaga will perform the song at the Grammys this coming weekend.
Deadline is making the claim, which as of late Tuesday night had yet to be officially confirmed.
Billboard reported last week that Grammy organizers had invited Gaga to perform on the Sunday night telecast, which isn’t at all surprising given that she’s up for four awards for “Shallow”: record and song of the year, best song written for visual media, and best pop duo/group song, the latter of course with duet partner Cooper. She’s also nominated for a fifth Grammy: best pop solo performance, for her piano version of the title track from her Joanne album.
As for why Cooper won’t join Gaga for the Grammy performance: he’ll be in London that same night at the BAFTAs representing A Star in Born, which has seven nominations. Cooper of course directed, co-starred, co-wrote and co-produced A Star Is Born, so he couldn’t very well stay away.
Hosted by Alicia Keys, the Grammys take place Sunday, February 10 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles and will air live on CBS 8:00 p.m. ET/5:00 p.m. PT.
