The former American Idol winner has been cast in a new Freeform comedy series that’s tentatively titled Besties. Jordin will plays Becca, an overachiever from a conservative African-American family who learns through an online genetics test that her birth mother is actually white.
The series will follow Becca as she connects with her half-sister Jesi and they figure out how to navigate their newfound relationship.
Jordin is the second American Idol alum to star on a current Freeform series. Katie Stevens, a top 10 finalist on Idol season nine, stars in the show The Bold Type.
Black-ish creator Kenya Barris serves as executive producer on the show. It was one of his final projects for the ABC-owned Freeform before his departure to Netflix last July.
