Andrew Lipovsky/NBC/NBCU PhotobankAs if it wasn’t exciting enough that Ariana Grande is headlining Coachella, Variety now reports that she’ll also be the main stage act for that other big music festival: Lollapalooza.
Sources tell Variety that come August, Ariana will be performing in Chicago’s Grant Park as part of the 2019 edition of legendary festival. However, the official announcement won’t come until March.
According to Variety, Ariana has actually been in talks to headline Lollapalooza for several months, and the booking was in the works before the Coachella spot was even discussed. In fact, sources tell Variety that Ariana only got the call for Coachella at the last minute, after Kanye West dropped out as a headliner when the festival wouldn’t meet his staging demands.
As previously reported, Ariana’s Sweetner North American tour schedule has been rearranged to allow for the Coachella performances, and is now slated to wrap up July 13. However, multiple sources insist to Variety that the early August performance at Lollapalooza is a go.
Stay tuned.
